COVID-19 cases in Pakistan cross 100,000, fatalities touch 2,000


The novel coronavirus continues to spread across the globe and the situation in Pakistan is also alarming as the infections in the country are continously increasing.

The number of confirmed cases in the country has jumped to 103,671 on Monday after new cases were detected in different parts of country.

According to the national dashboard, 4,728 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in 24 hours.

The national database stated that cases in Punjab mounted to 38,903, the highest number so far in the country, while the confirmed infections tally in Sindh stood at 38,108, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cases climbed to 13,487, in Balochistan 6,516 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid-19 cases climbed to 5,329, Gilgit-Baltistan tally up to 932, while 396 cases were reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

In addition, the country has recorded 2,067 deaths so far, after 65 fatalities were reported over the last 24 hours.

As per official data, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 575 deaths, 715 in Punjab, a highest number as compared to any other province while 650 in Sindh, 13 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 54 in Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 52 deaths and AJK recorded eight deaths.

According to the NCOC, Pakistan has so far carried out 705,833 corona tests and 22,650 in last 24 hours and 34,355 patients have recovered across Pakistan.

Reportedly, 18776 patients have been recovered in Sindh, 8109 in Punjab, 3542 in KP, 2313 in Balochistan, 843 in ICT, 577 in GB while in AJK 195 patients have been completely recovered whereas many patients are in a critical condition across the country.
